RICE HONORS PALI TERROR PROPAGANDIST

Condoleeza Rice Honors a Hizbullah / Fatah Propagandist as a Woman of Courage (IsraPundit)

For International Woman’s Day, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice convened eight women to be honored for the 2008 Secretary of State’s Awards for International Women of Courage ceremony. Of those eight women, oddly enough six were Muslim, as if Muslim women had cornered the market, making the “International” ceremony a rather parochial pat on the back for Muslims.

Of these six Muslim women, one has a rather interesting biography. Nibal Thawabteh. Undersecretary Dobriansky stated that she founded a newspaper, he oddly enough failed to mention its name. The newspaper’s name is Al-Hal and it is produced at Bir Zeit University’s media center where Nibal Thawabteh is also a lecturer.

Al-Hal is actually printed and distributed by Al Ayyam, which is the main mouthpiece of Fatah. Bir Zeit University itself is known as a hotbed for radical terrorism and its media institute benefits from infusions of international funding even as it turns out terrorist propagandists. But if you’re thinking that Condoleeza Rice could not have known all this and might have missed it, Nibal Thawabteh’s own resume available on multiple sites makes her terrorist affiliations incredibly clear.

While much of it has been designed to seem innocuous and appealing to the eyes of Western academics with buzzwords about education and illiteracy, there is this;

Script Writer and Director for Al Manar Satellite. Produced 9 Documentaries about Palestinian related issues 2003

Al Manar is of course Hizbullah satellite television and it doesn’t take much effort to imagine the sort of “Palestinian related issues” they would want as documentaries. Then there’s a stint as a writer and director for Ramattan Studios.

Script writer and director for many films as “The Palestinian Stones ” Ramattan Studios. 2003

Ramattan Studios last came to our attention when it was used as the go-between to release a tape of the two Fox News hostages.

Nibal Thawabteh is also on the Board of Directors of PYALARA. PYALARA is an organ of the PA’s youth organizations and promotes terrorism. She’s had a background in MIFTAH, a hyperactive propaganda outlet.

The best though comes under the heading of Training Experience which I’ll just screenshot as it’s rather straightforward. So straightforward even the dimmest State Department flack would have had no trouble understanding it. Just look at the last line.

In short Nibal Thawabteh has some rather ugly ties. She’s produced propaganda for Hizbullah, works for the Fatah press and has extensive connections to the Fatah political infrastructure. She’s even done political work for Hamas at one point it would seem. That’s a resume that should disqualify her from an invitation to the Benjamin Franklin Room while the Secretary of State holds a ceremony that awards her as one of the eight most courageous women in the world. We’ve gone from Mother Theresa to a terrorist press agent and days after Israel is recovering from a terrorist attack against a school, this award is doubly despicable.

Oh and one final inevitable note. Nibal Thawabteh is a consultant for the Carter Center.

OFFICIAL P.A. DAILY: KILLER OF 8 IS HOLY MARTYR

Official PA Daily: Killer of Eight Young Men Is Holy Martyr - Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook
Mahmoud Abbas' official PA daily newspaper has honored the killer of the eight students gunned down this week with the status of
Shahid - Holy Islamic Martyr. Al Hayat Al Jadida prominently placed a picture of the killer on the front page, with the caption, "The Shahid Alaa Abu D'heim." In a page one story, his act is defined as a "Shahada-achieving" action. This honoring of terror and terrorists by the PA has significant financial ramifications. In response to earlier PMW reports on the widespread Palestinian honoring of terror, Congress made it illegal for the U.S. to give money to entities that "advocate" terror. (Palestinian Media Watch)

GAZA PALIS RUSH TO BE "HUMAN SHIELDS"

Collateral Stupidity (BACKSPIN)

The Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center details some instances of Palestinian civilians voluntarily putting themselves in harm's way of the IDF:

1) Hamas's Al-Aqsa TV and PalMedia Website called upon civilians to form a human shield at the home of Abu al-Hatal in the Sajaiya neighborhood (in Al-Sha'af according to other version) because the IDF had threatened to blow it up (March 1).

Hamas_02

The inscription reads: “Hamas calls upon on [the Palestinian] public to come to the house of Abu al-Hatal in al-Sha'af [neighborhood] to act as human shields” (Al-Aqsa TV, March 1).

2) Al-Aqsa TV called upon the Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip to go to the house of shaheed Othman al-Ruziana to protect it because the IDF was threatening to blow it up (February 29).

3) Al-Aqsa TV called upon the residents of Khan Yunis to gather at the house of Ma'amoun Abu ‘Amer because the IDF was threatening to blow it up (February 28). An hour later dozens of Palestinians from Khan Yunis were reported to have gathered on the roof of Abu ‘Amer's house to serve as human shields to prevent the house from being hit (Pal-today Website, February 28) .

4) Al-Aqsa TV called upon Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip to go to the house of shaheed Musab al-Ja'abir to protect it because Israel was threatening to blow it up (February 29).

5) The PIJ's Radio Sawt al-Quds called upon civilian to gather around the house of Fawzi Abu al-Hamed in the Absan al-Kabira region to prevent it from being blown up by the IDF (March 1).

And Haaretz records this:

In one case the commander of the brigade reconnaissance force saw a boy of about 10 sent to bring a weapon from a dead gunman after another gunman was killed trying to retrieve it. The commander ordered his men not to fire and the boy delivered the weapon to other armed men.

In addition to the stupidity of these Palestinian civilians, there's a collateral stupidity at play: the stupidity of the media's sanctimonious concern for "collateral damage" that completely ignores how Palestinians are blurring the distinction between "fighter" and "civilian."

SEE ALSO: Palestinian Civilians Answer Hamas Call to be Human Shields
During the IDF activity in Gaza, both Hamas and Islamic Jihad frequently called upon Palestinian civilians to gather in places where, they claimed, the IDF was about to attack, to have them serve as human shields, exploiting the fact that the IDF avoids deliberately harming Palestinian civilians. On Feb. 28, Hamas' Al-Aqsa TV called on the residents of Khan Yunis to gather at the house of Ma'amoun Abu 'Amer. An hour later, dozens of Palestinians were gathered on the roof to serve as human shields to prevent the house from being hit. On Feb. 29, Al-Aqsa TV called upon Palestinians to go to the house of the martyr Othman al-Ruziana to protect it because the IDF was threatening to blow it up. On March 1, Al-Aqsa TV called on civilians to form a human shield at the home of Abu al-Hatal in Sajaiya. (Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center)

HAMAS' JEW-EATING RABBIT!

Video: Hamas' Jew-Eating Rabbit (LGF)
In the Hamas kids’ show Pioneers of Tomorrow, the degenerates responsible for this sick trash have killed off their giant bee character Nahoul (dead because the evil Israelis stopped him from getting medical treatment), and replaced him with a malevolent rabbit that eats Jews.

Yes, really.

PALI MEDIA'S ENGLISH AND ARABIC MESSAGES DON'T MATCH

PA's Message: In English – Coexist; In Arabic – Destroy Israel
(IsraelNN.com) The Palestinian Authority (PA) is delivering two very different messages to the Western and Arab world. The message to the West, declared in English in front of media microphones and cameras, glorifies an independent Palestinian state coexisting peacefully beside Israel.

But according to documented videos of PA TV programs monitored by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), the PA is telling its Arab audience that there will be no Israel at all, rather one large Arab Palestine will rule the entirety of Israel.

In the video ..., PMW Director Itamar Marcus explains that translated speeches and interviews of Palestinian leaders reveal their true intentions. Even "moderate" PA leaders have no intention of actually making peace with Israel or even recognizing its right to exist. Marcus says that hate-filled messages are rampant in PA culture and even in children's textbooks, which tell young minds that Islam demands the destruction of Israel.

PALI MEDIA INCITEMENT CONTINUES

Palestinian Media Continue Incitement Against Israel in Contravention of Roadmap(Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center)
In the months that preceded the Annapolis meeting, the Palestinian media carried larger amounts of anti-Israel incitement than usual, which continued and even increased afterwards.

Often woven into it were anti-Semitic symbols and images.

Even the PA media, controlled by Abbas and Fatah, were methodical in their vicious anti-Israeli incitement.

PALI MEDIA DISTORTS U.N. REMARKS

Palestinian Press modifies UN remarks (Elder of Ziyon)

The UN released a statement yesterday:

Deeply concerned at the escalation of violence in Gaza, the West Bank and southern Israel, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called for an immediate halt to Palestinian sniper and rocket attacks, as well as maximum restraint by the Israeli Defence Forces.
But when Palestinian Press Agency reported on it, something was missing:
United Nations Secretary-General expressed concern about the Israeli escalation

Ban Ki-moon stressed the Secretary General of the United Nations, deeply concerned about the current escalation in the killings in Gaza and the West Bank.

In a press statement issued at dawn today, deeply regretted the bloodshed and the killing and wounding of civilians in the Palestinian territories, warning of the likelihood of further victims in the case are not calm the situation in the region.
Notice that this "news" agency somehow managed to overlook Ki-Moon's call for an "immediate halt" to Palestinian Arab rockets and shootings?

Once again, the PalArabs show no ability to comprehend that they have any responsibilities at all - to the point that they will censor any news stories that indicate that they are responsible for their actions. Everything, and I mean everything, is 100% Israel's fault.

Always.

WHAT BUSH SHOULD SAY TO ABBAS

Their Generation by David Hazony (Contentions)
Today’s Jerusalem Post has an editorial that puts the entire Palestinian terror machine into proper perspective:

Yesterday, Bush said the first thing he would ask Abbas is “what are you going to do about the rockets” that are being fired from Gaza into Israel. As much we appreciate this question, a more salient one might be: “Why is your television glorifying suicide bombers?” Just last month, PA television, which Abbas brought under his personal authority when he took office, started rebroadcasting a video that ran dozens of times at the height of the suicide bombing campaign against Israel. The video begins with an imagined scene of a woman shot dead in the back by Israeli soldiers. She then rises to an Islamic paradise to join the “72 virgins” who await any suicide bomber. Next a young man swears to avenge the woman, is also killed by Israelis, and is seen joining this group of young women for his eternal reward. This is education for anything but peace.
When Yasser Arafat brought his operation to the future Palestinian homeland with the 1993 Oslo Accords, one of his first priorities was to revamp the schools and media. Israel was immediately removed from maps, suicide bombers became official martyrs, and a propaganda blitz began with the singular aim of raising a generation of Palestinians committed to the violent struggle against the Jewish state. Kids who were five years old back then are now turning twenty, having spent the great majority of their lives under that cultural rubric. Small wonder they join terror groups.

Perhaps Hamas and Fatah can rein in terror, for longer or shorter periods of time–and perhaps not. But it seems clear that the only true indicator of Palestinian intentions, the most important test that any diplomat should be using, is what they teach their kids. Want peace with Israel? First, put it back on the map.

A music video depicting a martyr for Allah being greeted in Paradise by the Dark Eyed Maidens (Virgins) has returned to PA television. The clip portrays a woman being shot in the back by Israeli soldiers, who is immediately transported to Paradise where she joins other maidens wearing identical long white gowns, all joyously dancing. The next scenes depict her male friend being shot by Israeli soldiers and transported to heaven, where all the "Maidens" greet him. It was broadcast several times a day during the PA terror war (2000-2005).

CHILDREN ON HAMAS TV: KILL THE JEWS

Children on Hamas TV Children's Show: 'Liberate' Al-Aqsa by Force, 'Wipe Out' Zionists to the Last One (MEMRI)

The following are excerpts from a children's show which aired on Hamas Al-Aqsa TV on December 3, 2007.

Boy: "My beloved brothers, as you know, today the Al-Aqsa Mosque is crying out: 'Where are the people of the frontline, the Palestinian people?' Yes, my dear brothers, that is the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The subject of our lesson today is Jerusalem, to where your Prophet made his nocturnal journey - the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

"Yes, my beloved brothers, as you know today, and as you knew yesterday and the day before, the Al-Aqsa Mosque has fallen into oppressing and malicious hands, the hands of those who know nothing but injustice. But let me tell you how the Al-Aqsa Mosque will be returned, how we shall rescue it from the shackles of the occupation, from the shackles of the Zionist entity.

"Will it be through conferences? No, not through conferences, but by means of force, because the Zionist entity, your enemy, the enemy of Allah, the enemy of Islam, knows nothing but injustice and the killing of Palestinians, the persevering people on the frontline. Indeed, the [mosque] will be returned only by means of force.

"In 1917, the Balfour Declaration was issued. Balfour decided on the cleansing of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. But look what the Zionist enemy has done, look what Israel and America have done. Look what the allies of Israel and America have done. They have dug tunnels underneath the Al-Aqsa Mosque, but the sheikhs and mujahideen of the Al-Aqsa Mosque have exposed these tunnels and called upon the Palestinian people: 'Look what has happened, look what has happened.'

"These calls have gone unheeded, my beloved brothers. But is it too late? No, it is not too late. If we all unite, the Al-Aqsa Mosque will not remain in the hands of the Zionist enemy, it will not remain in the hands of your enemy, despite all their conspiracies against the Palestinian people."

[...]

Girl: "To Al-Aqsa, to Al-Aqsa - we shall unite our ranks. We will wipe out the people of Zion, and will not leave a single one of them."

ABBAS CRACKS DOWN ON WEST BANK FREEDOMS

Is Mahmoud Abbas cracking down on Palestinian journalists to show he's a strongman? Sure seems that way. The International Middle East Media Center (IMEMC) reports that one its news producers, Ghassan Bannoura, was beaten by PA police while on his way to cover an anti-Annapolis protest in Bethlehem.

The police confiscated Bannoura's cell phone and camera and beat Bannoura with batons and rifle butts, fracturing the 27-year-old arm and leg. Dion Nissenbaum ofMcClatchy News comments:

The PA crackdown on reporters was followed by a fatal clash with demonstrators in Hebron at which one anti-Annapolis protester was shot and killed by PA forces.

The PA crackdown has many people wondering what Abbas is up to.

One prominent theory is that Abbas, long criticized as weak and unable to control the "Palestinian street," is trying to do just that.

UPDATE Dec. 2: Abbas' forces have resumed forcibly shaving Hamas beards.

INCITEMENT AND CIRCULAR REASONING

Strengthening the Palestinians Again - Natan Sharansky
I asked a player from the international elements engaged in building up the Palestinian economy why they weren't making aid to Mahmoud Abbas contingent on stopping the anti-Israeli incitement on the official television channel and in the Palestinian education system. He replied, "Abbas is so weak, and this is not a popular step. First of all, it is necessary to strengthen him and afterward it will be possible to demand something of him." I have never understood this strange reasoning: Once anti-Israeli positions have made him popular, he will suddenly lead his people toward peace?

It is true that to carry out courageous reforms and educate the people to peace, a strong and bold leader is needed. Leaders like that, who understand the need for education toward peace and reforms, do exist - but not in the Muqata in Ramallah. These are people who are not afraid to challenge the tyranny of the weak leader and who believe in building a civil society as a necessary foundation for any progress on the road to peace. It is true that they are weak, but for one reason only: We ourselves are weakening them by giving unreserved support to "moderate" tyrants. It is precisely the strengthening of an antidemocratic regime and the absence of an alternative that are pushing the public into the arms of fundamentalists, into the arms of Hamas.

Another generation of Palestinians is being educated to hatred, violence and the aspiration to destroy Israel. A look back over the years since the Oslo Accords shows clearly that the direction in which Palestinian society has marched is not the direction of peace. Annapolis is doomed to failure because it is built on distorted reasoning to the effect that it is possible to move ahead and make a deal with some leader and totally ignore what is really happening in Palestinian society. DISNEY TO ACT AGAINST HAMAS MICKEY

Report: Disney to act against Hamas (JTA)
The Walt Disney Company plans to take action against Hamas for its hate-mongering Mickey Mouse look-alike.

Israel's Foreign Ministry has received an assurance from Diane Disney Miller, the daughter of Walt Disney, that the corporation will take unspecified "steps" against the radical Palestinian Islamist group, Yediot Achronot reported Thursday.

The move follows Hamas' use of a Mickey Mouse look-alike named Farfur to incite against Israel and the West in a children's television show broadcast out of the Gaza Strip.

When the show triggered international outcry earlier this year, Miller described it as "evil," but her late father's company withheld comment.

It was not immediately clear what legal clout Disney might have against Hamas, which already is isolated internationally.

PA TV SINGS TO ISRAEL'S DESTRUCTION

PA TV Sings to Israel's Destruction - Itamar Marcus and Barbara Crook (Palestinian Media Watch)
While the PA announces in English its demand for a two-state solution, in Arabic it continues to define all of Israel as "Palestine," and to promise Israel's destruction. A new video clip, broadcast numerous times daily since it first appeared on Fatah-controlled TV last week, passionately promises that every Israeli city will be "liberated," including Jerusalem, Haifa, Jaffa, Beersheba and Tiberias.

HAMAS STIFLES PALI PRESS FREEDOM

HAMAS STIFLING PALESTINIAN PRESS FREEDOM (HonestReporting)
In recent months Hamas has tried to paint itself as "moderate", writing op-ed pieces in major newspapers such as the New York Times, Washington Post and LA Times. Being "media friendly" extended to securing the release of BBC reporter Alan Johnston and giving "guided tours" around Gaza for foreign journalists.

As with all authoritarian and terror groups, however, freedom of the press, particularly its own Palestinian media, is anathema to Hamas, which has decided to issue its own press cards to journalists operating in the Gaza Strip. The JPost reports:

Hamas' decision is seen by many Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip as an attempt to restrict their work and control news coverage from that area.

"Now Hamas will decide who can work as a journalist and who can't," one journalist told The Jerusalem Post. "Obviously, Hamas is not going to issue press credentials to anyone who does not support them. And I know many journalists here who might have to start searching for new jobs."

Palestinian Authority officials in Ramallah strongly condemned the Hamas move, describing it as an attempt to extort and intimidate journalists.

Al Mutawakel Taha, a senior official with the PA Ministry of Information, said that the decision to issue Hamas press cards was a "grave violation of the freedom of expression." He said in response to the move that the PA has decided to shut the Gaza-based branch of the PA Ministry of Information. "No one will recognize the new card," he said. "The attempt to impose press cards on journalists is unprecedented and a dangerous step that will have a negative impact on the freedom of the media in the Gaza Strip."

The Fatah-controlled Palestinian Journalists Syndicate said the Hamas decision was yet another move designed to terrorize journalists and prevent them from carrying out their work.
While it has never been a priority within the Palestinian Authority, this latest move by Hamas drives yet another nail in the coffin of press freedom for the Palestinian people in Gaza.

PA ENVISIONS A WORLD WITHOUT ISRAEL

PA Envisions a World Without Israel (LGF)
While Mahmoud Abbas continues making demands, and Condi Rice continues pressuring Israel to accept them, the mask came off again on Palestinian Authority television.

A clip broadcast by Fatah-controlled Palestinian television this week shows a map in which Israel is painted in the colors of the Palestinian flag, symbolizing Israel turned into a Palestinian state.

The description of all the state of Israel as "Palestine" is not coincidental and is part of a formal educational approach throughout the Palestinian Authority. This uniform message of a world without Israel is repeated in school books, children's programs, crossword puzzles, video clips, formal symbols, school and street names, etc. The picture painted for the Palestinian population, both verbally and visually, is of a world without Israel.
