DID CARTER ADVISE ARAFAT TO REJECT ISRAEL'S PEACE OFFER?

Carter and Arafat Conspired Against the West (Atlas Shrugs)
It appears Dhimmi Carter may have advised Nazi Arafat to reject Israel's offer of everything at Camp David.....

Fenig at American Thinker reports here;

Dershowitz on Carter Ethel Fenig, American Thinker

Did former president Jimmy Carter advise Yasser Arafat to reject Israel's offer for peace at Camp David? Alan Dershowitz suggests he did.

It seems that when Carter appeared at Brandeis to plug his book Palestine: Peace, Not Apartheid, he pledged to answer any questions that students e-mailed him afterward. Many took him up on the offer, and Carter did answer every question... except one. That one was this: Did you advise Yasser Arafat to reject the peace offer Israel made at Camp David, at the end of Clinton's term? According to Professor Dershowitz, some 15 students e-mailed that question, and they were the only students not to be answered.

This takes on even more relevance in light of the Quartet--and maybe the rest of the world--rushing to reward the Palestinians and Mahmoud Abbas with unaccountable billions more to encourage a Palestinian state that "will live side by side in peace with Israel." Dershowitz recounts a telling incident at the University of California, Irvine which is a "hotbed" of anti-Israeli agitation:

He [Dershowitz ] spoke to a large crowd, and first asked those who considered themselves pro-Israel to raise their hands. About 250 hands were raised. He then asked them if they would accept a Palestinian state, side by side, living in peace with Israel. Every hand went up.

Then he asked how many considered themselves pro-Palestinian. About 150 hands were raised. Finally, he asked this group whether they would accept a Jewish state of Israel, living side by side in peace with a new Palestinian state. Not a single hand went up.

DERSHOWITZ THREATENS TO SUE BRITISH BOYCOTTERS OF ISRAEL

Harvard legal expert vows to sue lecturers boycotting Israel (Financial Times)
A top American lawyer has threatened to wage a legal war against British academics who seek to cut links with Israeli universities.

Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard law professor renowned for his staunch defence of Israel and high-profile legal victories, including his role in the O.J. Simpson trial, vowed to "devastate and bankrupt" lecturers who supported such boycotts.

This week's annual conference of Britain's biggest lecturers' union, the University and College Union, backed a motion damning the "complicity of Israeli academia in the occupation [of Palestinian land]".

It also obliged the union's executive to encourage members to "consider the moral implications of existing and proposed links with Israeli academic institutions".

Prof Dershowitz said he had started work on legal moves to fight any boycott.

He told the Times Higher Educational Supplement that these would include using a US law - banning discrimination on the basis of nationality - against UK universities with research ties to US colleges. US academics might also be urged to accept honorary posts at Israeli colleges in order to become boycott targets.

"I will obtain legislation dealing with this issue, imposing sanctions that will devastate and bankrupt those who seek to impose bankruptcy on Israeli academics," he told the journal.

Sue Blackwell, a UCU activist and member of the British Committee for Universities of Palestine, said: "This is the typical response of the Israeli lobby which will do anything to avoid debating the real issue - the 40-year occupation of Palestine." Jewish groups have attacked the UCU vote, which was opposed by Sally Hunt, its general secretary.

JIMMY CARTER'S ARAB FINANCIERS

The Real Jimmy Carter - Alan M. Dershowitz
Recent disclosures of Jimmy Carter's extensive financial connections to Arab oil money, particularly from Saudi Arabia, had deeply shaken my belief in his integrity. Carter and his Center have accepted millions of dollars from suspect sources, beginning with the bail-out of the Carter family peanut business in the late 1970s by BCCI, a now-defunct and virulently anti-Israeli bank indirectly controlled by the Saudi royal family. If money determines political and public views as Carter insists "Jewish money" does, Carter's views on the Middle East must be deemed to have been influenced by the vast sums of Arab money he has received. DERSHOWITZ BATTLES FINKELSTEIN

ISRAEL DEFENDER ALAN DERSHOWITZ IS TRYING TO PERSUADE DEPAUL UNIVERSITY TO DENY TENURE TO ISRAEL DEFAMER, HOLOCAUST-QUESTIONER, AND TERRORIST SUPPORTER JEW NORMAN FINKELSTEIN.

A Bitter Spat Over Ideas, Israel and Tenure
In an ongoing battle between two polarizing professors, Alan Dershowitz is undertaking a campaign to persuade DePaul University to deny tenure to Norman Finkelstein, his longtime intellectual nemesis. (The New York Times)

DERSHOWITZ ON CARTER'S BRANDEIS VISIT

A Real Dialogue Would Have Been Better - Alan Dershowitz
President Carter's speech at Brandeis University on Tuesday should have been a real debate. Instead, it was a one-way dialogue with pre-screened questions and no rebuttals.

Carter defends Yasser Arafat's refusal to accept the generous terms offered by President Bill Clinton and Prime Minister Ehud Barak in 2000-2001 - or to make a counteroffer. In fact, the Palestinians could have had a state in 1938, 1948, 1967 and on several other occasions, but their leaders cared more about destroying Israel than they did about creating Palestine. That is the core of the conflict. It is Palestinian terror, not Israeli policy, which prevents peace. Carter chooses to believe Arafat's story over that of Clinton, Barak and Saudi Prince Bandar, who called Arafat's refusal a "crime."

Even at Brandeis, President Carter continued to make the kinds of inaccurate claims that run throughout his book. He said, for example, that Hamas began a sixteen-month cease-fire in August 2004. He said nothing about Hamas rocket attacks in the weeks and months that followed, which killed innocent Israeli women and children. He claimed that Israel's security barrier was designed to seize land, when in fact it was proposed by left-wing Israelis, and aims only to protect civilians from bombings and sniper fire. I would like to join with President Carter in working for peace in the Middle East. But peace will not come if we insist on blaming one side in the conflict. (Jerusalem Post)
