IRAN PLANNING TO ASSASSINATE ISRAELI LEADERS

Iranians Put Price on Ehud Barak's Head, Will Sell Donated Kidneys to Raise Funds.... (Weasel Zippers)

'Islamic Student Justice Seekers' declare financial prizes to be awarded to those who kill Israeli defense minister, Mossad Director Meir Dagan, and Military Intelligence Chief Amos Yadlin.

Do Ehud Barak, Meir Dagan and Amos Yadlin need to be worried? In the Iranian capital of Tehran, it was reported that an unprecedented ceremony took place on Sunday in which a price was put on the heads of the top ranking Israeli security officials as revenge for the assassination of Hizbullah arch terrorist Imad Mugniyah last month.

"Following the increase in crimes by the Zionist regime in occupied Palestine and in the Gaza Strip, and in wake of the assassination that this regime carried out abroad of senior members of the resistance front, a ceremony will be held today to set a financial prize for the killing of the organizers of these acts."

The Justice Seekers also called for volunteers to donate a kidney in order to offer the money acquired via the act to increase the financial prize.

The organizers claim that a number of civil groups agreed to take part in the ceremony in order to contribute to the amount of money offered for the heads of the Israeli threesome.

BARAK AGREED TO GIVE PALIS TEMPLE MOUNT IN 2000

ARAFAT REJECTED A BETTER DEAL THAN ANYONE THOUGHT.

Document Reveals Details of Previous Israeli-Palestinian Negotiations - Barak Ravid (Ha'aretz)
A document entitled "The Status of the Diplomatic Process with the Palestinians: Points to Update the Incoming Prime Minister" was prepared in February 2001 for incoming Prime Minister Sharon by the office of outgoing Prime Minister Barak, detailing the differences in negotiating positions between the two sides at the point when the talks were frozen.

Barak Agreed To Hand Temple Mount & Yesha to Arabs in 2000 Talks (INN)
(IsraelNN.com) According to a document brought out of mothballs seven years after it was signed, Defense Minister Ehud Barak – then Prime Minister of Israel – agreed to transfer the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, Judaism's holiest site, to Arab sovereignty.

The document entitled "The Status of the Diplomatic Process with the Palestinians - Points to Update the Incoming Prime Minister" outlined the many points of disagreement between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), but noted significant agreement on at least three core issues.

The talks at Camp David and Taba in 2000 and 2001 resulted in agreements on the issues of borders, "refugees" and Jerusalem, according to a 26-page document obtained by the Ha'aretz news service.

BARAK'S BACK

Barak's Back by Noah Pollak (Contentions)
After six years out of public life, Ehud Barak, the Israeli prime minister from 1999-2001, re-emerged as Minister of Defense a little over three months ago—and rarely has someone effected such a dramatic improvement, in such a short period of time, of Israel’s standing in the region. When Barak was elected Labor Party leader in June and obtained the defense portfolio, Israel was in the midst of several crises. Some of these had been exacerbated by Israeli mishandling, but all of them demanded far more in the way of self-assured and competent leadership than what the Olmert administration (and especially Barak’s feckless predecessor at Defense, Amir Peretz) were able to offer: the 2006 Lebanon War had gone badly and emboldened Syria and Iran; the Winograd Commission report had exposed a great deal of genuinely astonishing incompetence in the Israeli political and milita! ry echelon; Hamas had just taken Gaza; tensions along the border with Syria were escalating; and perhaps worst of all, there existed inside of Israel a debilitating lack of confidence in the government’s ability to handle the impending challenges.

The mood in Israel today is hardly one of wild optimism, especially regarding Iran, but Barak’s leadership has already demonstrated both to the Israeli public and to antagonistic regimes that the IDF intends to correct its blunders. According to many reports, Barak’s first priority upon returning to the government was planning Israel’s recent strike on Syria, a sophisticated and daring mission that appears to have been a perfect success on many levels—not least of which is a demonstration to Syria and Iran that the Israeli air force can easily defeat their new Russian air defense systems, and is not afraid of trying. Barak has warned Hamas that it faces a large-scale ground operation in Gaza in response to continued rocket fire, and has declared the implementation of comprehensive missile defense to be a central precondition of any IDF withdrawal from the West Bank.

Meanwhile, the IDF has stepped up the intensity of its training, especially in reserve units and among ground forces, and has begun pouring resources into developing a multi-tiered missile defense system that will be capable of defeating every type of enemy rocket. The IDF is also developing sophisticated countermeasures for installation on its Merkava tanks to defend against the kind of advanced anti-tank missiles that proved so deadly in southern Lebanon last summer. And Barak has pursued all of these operations and goals with an uncharacteristic sense of quiet determination, bluntly warning the Israeli public in one of his few public appearances against being “deceived by the illusion of a bogus calm.”

Barak has even attempted to rescue Gilad Shalit from captivity in Gaza, with a recent mission in which the Hamas chief who was in charge of the Gaza territory from which terrorists tunneled into Israel to abduct Shalit was himself abducted by IDF special operators, apparently dressed as members of Hamas’s Executive Force. The reemergence of Ehud Barak is emblematic of one of Israel’s greatest strengths: its ability to evaluate failure, assign blame, and quickly take corrective action. During the past three months, Israel has significantly renewed the deterrence and credibility of its armed forces. And Israel’s enemies surely have noticed.

HAS ISRAEL KIDNAPPED SHALIT'S KIDNAPPER?

Report: Israeli troops disguised as Palestinian grocers kidnap Gilad Shalit’s kidnapper
(HotAir)

No confirmation from the IDF but I bet it’s true. Ehud Barak is internationally famous for his participation in raids like these behind enemy lines, most notoriously when he dressed as a woman to assassinate PLO leaders in Beirut in 1973. He took over as defense minister from the much-maligned Amir Peretz less than three months ago; this is probably his way of leaving a calling card for Hamas.

Pretty awesome:

The sources said that the undercover soldiers entered the Gaza Strip, and carried out their operation near the Rafah Crossing. According to the sources, the undercover soldiers were disguised as grocers riding a donkey-pulled wagon. Sources said they disguised force even chatted with locals near the crossing.

According to the report, the undercover soldiers approached a plot of land belonging to Muhawesh al-Kadi, a senior Hamas official who acts as spokesman of the organization’s special security forces in Rafah.

Al-Kadi was working his land when the disguised force approached and kidnapped him. The Palestinian sources reported that the operation went quickly and smoothly. The undercover force left Rafah with al-Kadi, and brought him to Israel.

According to the report, the operation was carried out about 2 kilometers from the security fence, in an area where a large number of Hamas gunmen are stationed.

Hamas officials confirmed that this was one of the Israelis’ most daring acts and that troops disguised as Arabs had not entered so deep into the Strip for a long time.

Will they kill Shalit as a reprisal? Probably not. They can’t afford to invite an IDF offensive when they’re still worried about controlling the Gaza strip. I wonder if Israel will offer al-Kadi as part of the prisoner exchange.

Meanwhile, Debka floats a not-unlikely theory about that strange Israeli flyover of Syria a few days ago. Apparently, the IAF was able to jam the Russian-made Syrian anti-aircraft system; it so happens that Iran has the same system. You do the math.

BARAK: ISSUING GASMASKS COULD PROVOKE SYRIAN ATTACK

Barak - Issuing gas masks could provoke Syrian attack (JNW)
Right-wing Israeli politicians have reacted in shock and anger to the news that Defense Minister and former Prime Minister Ehud Barak will not order gas masks distributed to Israelis for fear of provoking the Syrians into a war.

I BET THEY'D BE EVEN LESS "PROVOKED" IF ISRAEL GAVE SYRIA ALL OF ITS WEAPONS! WHAT A BRILLIANT DEFENSE MINISTER!

BARAK: OK IF WEST BANK WITHDRAWAL BRINGS ROCKET FIRE

EHUD BARAK ADVOCATES THAT ISRAEL WITHDRAW FROM THE WEST BANK EVEN THOUGH HE FULLY EXPECTS THE TERRITORY (LIKE GAZA) WILL BE USED AS A LAUNCHING PAD (ALBEIT FROM A GREATER HEIGHT) FOR ROCKETS INTO ISRAEL'S MAIN POPULATION CENTERS. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD CEDE TERRITORY TO THEIR ENEMIES IN ORDER TO GIVE THEIR ENEMY A BETTER POSITION FROM WHICH TO FIRE DEADLY WEAPONS?

Barak: Missile Defense Is Precondition for Pullout - Amos Harel
Defense Minister Ehud Barak considers the development of technological defenses against rocket fire on the home front a precondition for any significant withdrawal from the West Bank. Such a withdrawal would put Israel's main population centers in Kassam rocket range of the Palestinian Authority. Therefore, Israel must first develop and deploy an effective anti-missile system - a process that is expected to take three to five years. (Ha'aretz)

HEZBOLLAH USED ABANDONED IDF EQUIPMENT TO KIDNAP IDF SOLDIERS

Hizbullah Used Abandoned IDF Equipment in Kidnapping (INN)
Reports from Lebanon claim that the IDF reservists kidnapped last year were alive at the time and abducted by Hizbullah terrorists using weapons abandoned by the IDF during the hasty 2000 withdrawal.

According to Maariv, an investigation has found that the terrorists who captured IDF reservists Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser were using equipment that was left behind when the IDF retreated from Lebanon in 2000.

The retreat was conducted hastily during the night at the orders of then-Prime Minister Ehud Barak. "The Barak government's irresponsible withdrawal from Lebanon brought Hizbullah to the fence, paved the way for Nasrallah and caused the problems in Lebanon in 2006," former Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said at a Tuesday ceremony marking a year since the Second Lebanon War.

Thursday night, Israel’s Channel 1 TV featured a Lebanese reporter who was said to have close ties with Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah. He said that Regev and Goldwasser were taken from their IDF vehicle alive when they were attacked a year ago. He also said that Hizbullah had videotaped the entire episode, but had hidden the video.

THANK GOODNESS ARAFAT REJECTED BARAK'S OFFER

Another Track: But for Arafat's grace By SARAH HONIG (JPost)
In his younger days Ezer Weizman was wont to repeat at the slightest provocation the Prophet Samuel's assurance that "the Eternity of Israel shall not deceive," but then he always followed it up with: "and the Arabs wouldn't let us down." So far, time after incredible time, they indeed bailed us out.

Yasser Arafat, bum rap that we gave him notwithstanding, certainly rescued us from Ehud Barak's hubris. Envision the ensuing calamity, had the PLO chieftain accepted the deal Barak and Bill Clinton dangled before him at the 2000 Camp David summit.

Had Arafat taken advantage of Barak's foolhardy generosity - instead of violently rebuffing it and launching his bloody Second Intifada - he'd have taken possession, besides Gaza, of nearly all of Judea and Samaria, settlement blocks included, as well as east Jerusalem and the Temple Mount (except for ill-defined "subterranean layers" thereof, according to Barak's cockamamie concoction). After Arafat's departure to the netherworld's great terrorist convocation, his PLO cohorts would have inherited his latifundia.

From here on the story is familiar, except for name-place variations. Everything that happened in the Gaza Strip - which Ariel Sharon ceded unilaterally according to Barak's reckless Lebanese precedent - would have been replayed in Bethlehem, Hebron, Jericho, Ramallah, Nablus, Jenin, etc. Eventually Hamas would have gained domination over all that Arafat's fat Fatah failed to control.

The pattern is the one revealed before our eyes in Gaza-turned-Hamastan. The outstanding difference is that the Hamastan which brash Barak thoughtlessly almost created along Israel's entire long convoluted eastern flank, directly adjoining this country's densest population centers, would have been incalculably deadlier than anything visited from Gaza on poor suffering Sderot.
