Yasser Arafat’s death certificate inaccurately states that he was born in Jerusalem. Arafat died early Thursday morning at a military hospital in the Paris suburb of Clamart, and death certificate No. 964, issued by the town of Clamart, states his birthplace as Jerusalem, Le Parisien newspaper reported Friday. In fact, Arafat was born in Cairo in 1929, but often claimed Jerusalem as his place of birth to strengthen his credentials as the father of Palestinian nationalism.
