SUHA GETS HER MONEY (AND A NEW BUDDY)
Suha, PA leaders reach settlement: Senior official says PA chairman’s wife to receive substantial amount of funds located in bank accounts of her husband, PA to get the rest.
Suha Arafat, wife of PA Chairman Yasser Arafat, will receive a substantial amount of funds located in bank accounts of her husband, a senior official told NRG Maariv. In the past several days, it was reported that a bitter struggle had taken place between Suha and the senior Palestinian leadership. It appears Suha’s scathing attack on Abu Mazen and Abu Ala stemmed from this battle. On Monday, Suha said that their trip to Paris was a conspiracy to 'bury her husband alive'.
However, the conflict has resolved and a settlement has been reached by which Suha would get a substantial amount of funds while the rest is to be transferred to the Palestinian Authority. Arafat’s financial empire is a vast web of overseas accounts and property holdings. Only his chief financial officer and confidante Muhammad Rashid has knowledge of the exact holdings that make up Arafat’s fortune.
The official added that Suha has decided not to return to live in the territories. It is still unclear if she would remain in Paris, where she has been living for the past several years.

Suha Arafat has rejected a $2 million financial settlement from the PA to allow completion of the tests that would finally determine Yasser Arafat's death, according to French sources, who are becoming increasingly impatient with Arafat's wife. French officials were astonished to discover that Suha's constant companion and financial adviser was Pierre Rizk, who headed the intelligence service of the Christian Phalange during the Lebanese civil war and was in close personal contact with the group responsible for the massacre at the Sabra and Shatilla refugee camps in 1982.
DEBKA is reporting that Suha settled on $22 million. No word on whether she was given a stipend to fund washing the blood off the money.
