FRENCH ARAB STUDENTS HEAP ABUSE ON RABBI

Students heap abuse on French rabbi
French educational authorities ordered a school to organize an interfaith awareness event after students heaped anti-Semitic insults on a local rabbi.

While Elie Hayoun was giving a talk last week to students at the school in Mulhouse, students began calling him “a dirty Jew” and making anti-Semitic statements in Arabic. All students at the school will be required to attend the Dec. 14 event, which will be addressed by Hayoun, a local priest and an imam.

“Apart from condemning this horrible act, it is important that the whole high school participate in this action of condemnation and in the establishment of a climate of respect and tolerance” in the school, said Gerard Chaix, the region’s education chief. Hayoun filed a police complaint against the students for “racist and anti-Semitic abuse.”
