PALESTINIANS RIOT OVER PURCHASE OF CHRISTIAN PROPERTY BY JEWS

Church protest turns violent
Palestinians rioted over a report that Jews had bought Christian property in Jerusalem. Several hundred Palestinians converged on the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem on Saturday, intent on confronting Greek Orthodox Patriarch Irineos I after an Israeli newspaper reported that one of his assistants had sold Old City land to Jews. Irineos, who was in the middle of Mass, had to be rushed off for his own safety as the Palestinians faced off with Israeli police. Several people, including a police officer, were hurt, and four were arrested.
