Egypt blocked prominent Egyptian playwright Ali Salem from entering Israel to receive an honorary doctorate Wednesday from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Salem has braved criticism for publicly preaching peace and normalization of ties, and has visited Israel several times.
