Israeli Intelligence Chief: Terrorist Build-Up in West Bank "A Ticking Time-Bomb" - Gideon Alon (Ha'aretz)
The Director of Military Intelligence, Major General Aharon Ze'evi, told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Tuesday that terror groups are building up their strength in the West Bank, trying to transfer the technical knowledge on how to build Kassam rockets from Gaza. "We see the West Bank build-up as a ticking time-bomb," Ze'evi said. He also said that the cease-fire with the Palestinians is expected to hold until after the upcoming Palestinian elections in January. Regarding Iran's bid to build an atomic device, Ze'evi said that contrary to reports in the U.S. press that Iran is 10 years away from building a nuclear device, he estimated that Iran will achieve nuclear capability by 2008. Ze'evi said the Palestinians were continuing to manufacture arms inside Gaza and that the PA was still not willing to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure. (Jerusalem Post)
