S.F. SHUL INVITES ANTI-SEMITE TO YOM KIPPUR

Antiwar activist to appear at Yom Kippur service
A congregation in San Francisco invited Cindy Sheehan, a critic of Israel, to its Yom Kippur service.

Sheehan, whose son died in Iraq and who has emerged as a leader of the anti-Iraq war movement, has compared Israel’s occupation of the West Bank to the U.S.-led occupation of Iraq and has allied herself with some groups that deny Israel’s right to exist.

The Beyt Tikkun congregation invited her to speak at a service that will include atonement for the Iraq war.

“Cindy Sheehan was accused of blaming this war on Israel, but she has denied that charge,” Rabbi Michael Lerner said in an e-mail to congregants. “We are glad she denies it, because we as Jews strongly oppose the war and also oppose attempts to blame the war on the Jewish people.”

I GUESS MICHAEL LERNER ISN'T TROUBLED BY SHEEHAN'S ACTUAL RECORDED QUOTES, SUBSEQUENT DENIALS ASIDE.
