MAYBE THEY NEED THEIR OWN STATE.

French Riots Spread Beyond Paris
PARIS — The chaotic riots that have gripped the suburban slums north of Paris for more than a week spread to more suburbs and other towns across France Thursday night. North of Paris, Muslim youths from northern and sub-Saharan Africa torched over 400 cars and several large stores.

Jean-Francois Cordet, a regional official, said a group of 30 to 40 teenagers harassed police near a synagogue and that a school classroom had been partially burned.

In Trappes, to the west of the capital, 27 city buses parked at a depot were incinerated. Their burned-out shells stood in blackened rows Friday morning as police inspected the scene. In Neuilly-sur-Marne, to the east, youths fired buckshot at riot police vehicles.

French newspapers reported that on Wednesday night in Sevran, northeast of Paris, a bus carrying about 50 passengers was forced to stop at a flaming barricade and subsequently attacked by teenagers wielding Molotov cocktails. Most of the passengers were able to escape, but one middle-aged disabled woman was caught in the flames and was seriously burned.
