U.N.'S DAY OF SOLIDARITY WITH PALESTINIAN PEOPLE

ACCORDING TO THE UNITED NATIONS' WEBSITE, NOVEMBER 29, 2005 IS THE "International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People"

The Day of Solidarity will observed on Tuesday, 29 November 2005. Special events will be organized at United Nations headquarters in New York, as well as at United Nations offices at Geneva and Vienna.

THE ABSURD "INFORMATION NOTE" BEGINS WITH THE FOLLOWING....

"The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is observed by the United Nations on 29 November each year, in accordance with mandates given by the General Assembly in its resolutions 32/40 B of 2 December 1977, 34/65 D of 12 December 1979, 59/29 of 1 December 2004 and other relevant resolutions.

The date of 29 November was chosen because of its meaning and significance to the Palestinian people. On that day in 1947, the General Assembly adopted resolution 181(II), which came to be known as the Partition Resolution. That resolution provided for the establishment in Palestine of a "Jewish State" and an "Arab State", with Jerusalem as a corpus separatum under a special international regime. Of the two States to be created under this resolution, only one, Israel, has so far come into being."

HOW ABOUT THIS INSTEAD:

"The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People (which is what the world used to call everyone in the Holy Land, Jew and Arab alike, before 1948) is observed by the United Nations in accordance with UN resolutions passed around the time the UN declared Zionism to be racism.

The date of 29 November was chosen because on that day in 1947, the UN resolved to offer states to Jews and Arabs in the Holy Land. The Jews accepted the offer and founded Israel. The Arabs rejected statehood and instead launched a war of against the fledgling Jewish State, with the goal of "driving the Jews into the sea." Despite being vastly outnumbered, the brave Jews of Israel, remnants of the Holocaust, pushed back their attackers."

THE SECRETARY-GENERAL'S STATEMENT IS JUST AS RIDICULOUS. IT INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

"Israel’s disengagement from the Gaza Strip and the Palestinians’ success in ensuring calm during that period had raised hopes for a renewal of the political process. However, the ensuing upsurge in violence seriously undermined the fledgling coordination between the parties, bringing back feelings of frustration and disappointment."

WHAT "SUCCESS" WOULD THAT BE? THE CORRUPTION, LOOTING OR MURDER? WHAT "CALM" IS HE TALKING ABOUT? THE CALM AFTER A ROCKET ATTACK ON ISRAEL? AH, HE REFERS TO AN "UPSURGE IN VIOLENCE." HMM, BUT HE FAILS TO MENTION WHO IS PERPETRATING THAT VIOLENCE.

UPDATE: Israeli Envoy Slams UN Celebrations - Itzhak Benhorin

Israeli schools teach their students that on November 29, 1947, the UN General Assembly voted to end British rule in Israel, and approved the foundation of two states - one Jewish and the other Arab. The Jews in Israel rejoiced over the decision, while the Arabs wholeheartedly rejected it. Several years ago the Assembly decided to transform this date into a day of identification with the Palestinian people. In spite of improved relations in recent years, the UN remains a body hostile to Israel. About 20 committees in the international organization are dedicated to the Palestinian issue, and operate against Israel.

The UN "celebrated" Nov. 29 with a conference to mark "an international day of sympathy with the Palestinian people," with the participation of UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. The General Assembly held a special session to discuss "The Question of Palestine - a report by the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People."

"The Palestinians have turned Nov. 29 into a hostage for their whims," said Israel's ambassador to the UN Danny Gillerman. "I will not participate in this charade. Each year this ritual repeats itself. The Arab and Muslim representatives fill the assembly hall with defaming speeches." (Ynet News)
