DESPAIR IN ISRAEL

YES, ISRAEL IS DISAPPOINTED. BUT THAT SHOULDN'T DISTRACT US FROM TWO LARGER POINTS:

1. The Palestinians may have voted for Hamas as a reaction against Fatah's corruption, but that doesn't change the fact that a majority of Israel's "peace partners" voted for a party which clearly proclaimed its desire to kill every Jew in the Middle East (if not the world). The German's have no excuse for electing Hitler in 1933 and the Palestinians have no excuse now.

2. How is Hamas any different from Fatah, which has launched terror attacks against Israel, refuses to disarm, and continues to call for Israel's destruction? The real cause for despair is that Israel has been "negotiating" with Hamas since Oslo.

Israelis despair over Hamas election victory
JERUSALEM - Israeli Avi Zana listened with horror on Thursday to news that the Hamas militant group that killed his son had won Palestinian elections.

On the streets of the Jewish state, there was grave concern at the victory of the Hamas movement that carried out nearly 60 suicide bombings during a Palestinian uprising and is formally dedicated to destroying Israel.

“The Palestinians have shown their true face by electing Hamas,” said Zana, 46. “The group does not want control of the Palestinian Authority, it wants control of all Israel.”
