Abbas Not Demanding Hamas Recognize Israel (Reuters)
An official close to Palestinian chairman Abbas denied a report from Egypt on Wednesday that Hamas would have to recognize Israel to join the next government. The Palestinian official said formal recognition of Israel would not be a prerequisite for Hamas or any Palestinian party joining a government.
