PA BOUNCES $22 MILLION CHECK TO ISRAEL

MY FIRST QUESTION IS, "WHO ACCEPTS A CHECK FOR $22 MILLION?"

Palestinian Authority check bounces, petrol cut off.

JERUSALEM (AFP) - The private Israeli firm that provides gasoline to the Palestinian Authority said a check for more than 22 million dollars bounced last week and announced it has stopped deliveries. “A check for 103 million shekels (22.4 million dollars) made out to Dor-Allon was returned unpaid last week and we have stopped deliveries because the Palestinian arrears are accumulating,” a Dor-Allon spokesman told AFP Monday. Amid the threat of a fuel crisis in the Palestinian territories, an Israeli official questioned by AFP said the “government cannot intervene in a matter involving a private contract.”

DON'T WORRY, THE EU IS COMING TO THE RESCUE!!

EU to fill Palestinian funds gap.

About 20m euros will pay the salaries of Palestinian Authority officials, and another 40m will be earmarked for electricity and other energy expenses. The European commission insists that the latter will go directly to suppliers, not go through the Palestinian Authority. “They [the PA] will provide us with bills and we will pay those bills to the utilities concerned,” spokeswoman Emma Udwin said.  It will be the EU’s first financial aid to the PA since the January election win by Hamas, which the EU describes as a terrorist organisation.  The 25-member Union has refused to indicate whether it will maintain its funding for the PA with Hamas running the government.
