YOU SAY, "PRAGMATIST," I SAY "GENOCIDAL MANIAC"

If He's A Pragmatist ... (NY SUN)

"Hamas on Thursday chose Ismail Haniyeh, a Hamas leader widely viewed by Palestinians as a pragmatist, to be the next prime minister, a senior official in the militant group said," Reuters reports. According to Reuters, "The official spoke on condition of anonymity because Hamas has yet to make a formal announcement. He said the nomination was made after consultations with Hamas officials in the Gaza Strip."  A "pragmatist," apparently, is someone who signs up to the Hamas charter that calls for the death of Jews and says "There is no solution to the Palestinian problem except by jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are a waste of time and a farce." In which case, we'd hate to see a full-blown extremist.
