OUR FRIEND, JORDAN

No 'Culture Of Peace' (NYSun)
"The Jordanian Press Association has threatened to punish member journalists who visit Israel in violation of its decision to bar normalisation of ties with the Jewish state, according to local newspaper al-Rai," AKI reports.

"The JPA council will inflict deterrent punishment on journalists who violate its decision that bans any form of normalization," the group said. It was responding to local press reports that 40 Jordanian journalists, most of whom work for the state broadcaster, planned to travel to Israel to attend a three-week training course at Haifa University designed to spread a "culture of peace" in the region.

Jordan signed a peace treaty with the Jewish State in 1994. The Hashemite kingdom is supposed to be a key American ally in the region.
