ARE THE FANATICS WINNING?
Where do we stand?
Hamas has succeeded in getting Abbas to drop his plan for a Palestinian vote on a vague endorsement of a two-state solution.
Iran has succeeded in distracting the world from Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons and Iran's failure to respond to the U.N.'s deadline to respond to the EU's offer of incentives.
Israel has destroyed some weapons in Southern Lebanon, but Hezbollah's leadership remains in tack. Even if Israel destroys every weapon that Hezbollah currently possesses, once the fighting stops, Iran can and will re-arm Hezbollah in a matter of months.
Syria, with no oil, troops, goodwill, or morals has once again convinced the West that it is an indispensable player in the quest for peace in the Middle East and as such must be appeased, not threatened.
The Europeans (especially France and Spain) have been revealed as Hezbollah supporters who just wish Israel would "disappear."
The UN has lost whatever legitimacy it ever had and must now be considered Israel's enemy.
The United States has shown itself to be Israel's only real ally. George Bush has shown himself to be a true friend.
Israelis are united in believing they are fighting a just war of self defense for their very existence.
