GAZA PALIS CHEER HEZBOLLAH
THIS IS ISRAEL'S "PEACE PARTNER"
‘Right On, Hizbullah!’ (MSNBC)
July 27, 2006 - A person can learn a lot in the Gaza Strip just by listening to the radio. In peacetime, Palestinians sing along to soothing ballads by Umm Kulthume, the voice of Arab nationalism in the 1950s and ’60s. Not surprisingly, she is a favorite of moderate president Mahmoud Abbas. But this week, even politically secular Gazans were singing a different melody: a catchy tune in heavy rotation called "Hala, Hala, Hizbullah!" (The chorus: "Right on, Hizbullah! Right on, Nasrallah! We don't need money or food—we need freedom!") Some even set it as the ringtone on their cellphones.
ACCORDING TO THE JTA, TODAY:
Some 2,000 Palestinians held a pro-Hezbollah rally in the West Bank. “Dear Nasrallah, blow up Tel Aviv,” they chanted Thursday, referring to Hezbollah’s leader, Sheik Hassan Nasrallah.
