HEZBOLLAH USES UN FOR COVER AND TARGET PRACTICE

UN On Hizballah's Side (LGF)
A UN observation post was reportedly hit by Hizballah rockets today, but the United Nations is trying to claim that it was an Israeli artillery shell:

Hezbollah Rockets Hit UN Observation Post.

JERUSALEM — A U.N.-run observation post just inside Israel was struck during fighting between Israel and Hezbollah militants on Friday. The Israeli army blamed Hezbollah rockets but a U.N. officer said it was an artillery shell fired by the Israeli Defense Force.

A U.N. officer, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation, said an artillery shell fired by Israel made “a direct hit on the U.N. position overlooking Zarit.” The post is part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.

But an IDF spokesman said the position was hit by rockets fired by Hezbollah that fell short of their targets in northern Israel.

Hizballah Using UN Positions for Cover (LGF)
Buried in this report at the LA Times is the news that Hizballah terrorists are using United Nations peacekeepers’ positions for cover. The UN spokesman mentions it, but doesn't add a single word of disapproval:

Bombs Rain on Bunker in Beirut.

Intense bouts of rocket fire, crashing missiles and shelling rendered the roads in Lebanon’s borderlands impassable, a spokesman for the U.N. peacekeeping forces in Lebanon’s south said.

Hezbollah guerrillas were setting up rocket launchers near U.N. positions, spokesman Milos Strugar said.

Three of the U.N. stations along the border had been hit by Israeli artillery, and the organization was unable to move desperately needed aid convoys onto roads that were coming under heavy bombardment, he said.
