ISRAEL ACTS TO PREVENT CIVILIAN CASUALTIES IN LEBANON

Israel Acts to Prevent Civilian Casualties in Lebanon (AIPAC)
While continuing defensive operations against Lebanon-based Hizballah, Israel immediately expressed regret for and began investigating a Sunday air operation that inadvertently killed 57 Lebanese in the town of Qana. At the risk of leaving its soldiers without the element of surprise, Israel has repeatedly warned residents of southern Lebanon—including Qana—to leave certain areas being targeted by Israel. Nevertheless, Hizballah terrorists have launched more than 2,000 rocket and mortar attacks against Israel over the past two weeks while hiding among Lebanese civilians, intentionally exposing them to Israeli fire.
