WHAT DOES THE VATICAN HAVE TO HIDE RE THE HOLOCAUST?

Vatican opens prewar archive (JTA)
The Vatican opened its archive covering its early relations with Hitler and Mussolini to scholars. The material covers the 1922-1939 reign of Pope Pius XI. Scholars are particularly eager to examine the prewar writings of the future Pope Pius XII, who was the Vatican’s ambassador in Berlin in the 1930s and has been criticized for not taking more action as pope to protect Jews during the Holocaust.

The archives from the Holocaust era remain closed.
