"Israel rejected a recommendation yesterday by the Middle East Quartet that it unfreeze customs receipts collected on behalf of the Palestinian Authority, saying it won't consider returning the $500 million until Palestinian militants release a soldier kidnapped in June," the Washington Times reports. This should all be very "imminent" according to Abbas.

Israel Gets "Sign of Life" from Captive Soldier
Israeli officials Wednesday said that a "sign of life" had been received from Cpl. Gilad Shalit, who was kidnapped in a cross-border raid by Palestinian militants from Gaza on June 25. (CNN)
