In 2006, 117 out of the 190 would-be suicide bombers captured in the West Bank were caught in Nablus, and 9 out of the 11 suicide belts seized were found there. "This is a terror capital where all the groups work together to carry out attacks against Israel," said Brig.-Gen. Yair Golan, commander of the Judea and Samaria Division. He noted that the residents of Nablus "were not like they used to be" and did not take to the streets in massive riots in response to the IDF operation. (Jerusalem Post)

Israel Army forces on Monday continued moving into the West Bank city of Nablus, which has been under curfew since Sunday. Twenty Israeli armoured vehicles stormed the city early Sunday and soldiers imposed a curfew, surrounded various buildings and broke into homes.

According to Palestinian sources, over 100 Palestinians have been arrested so far, including the director of local television channel Al Sanabel, as part of punitive measures, and thousands of students from all education levels could not attend classes.

An Israeli military source said that only five people from the television channel remain detained since the rest were released a few hours after being interrogated. On Sunday, Palestinian health sources said that at least eight Palestinian were wounded, while Tel Aviv admitted that two of its soldiers were injured.

The Tel Aviv Army informed that the so called Hot Winter Operation, started on Sunday, is aimed at destroying alleged Palestinian facilities for building weapons and arresting anti occupation Palestinians.
