POLL: AMERICANS SAY ISRAEL IS U.S.'S ONLY VITAL FRIEND

Americans Say Israel is Their Only "Vital Friend" (AIPAC)
Israel is the only "vital friend...that a majority of Americans feel favorably toward and say that what happens there is vitally important to the United States," according to a Gallup World Affairs Poll. Americans' views remain most favorable toward Canada, Australia and Great Britain, but unlike Israel, Americans do not consider what happens in those three countries to be of vital importance. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Iran scored a nine percent favorable rating, the lowest of any country. A key U.S. ally in the war on terror as well as the only liberal democracy in the Middle East, Israel consistently receives highly favorable ratings in polls of the American public.
