FRANCE: STRIKING IRAN DESTABILIZING

Strike on Iran would destabilize region - France (YNet)
Any military strike against Iran in the dispute over its nuclear program risks destabilizing the region, French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin said in an interview released on Friday.

"For France, a military intervention is not the solution," he said in comments to be published on Saturday in the London-based Arabic newspaper Al Hayat. "I add that a military strike against Iran would have unforeseeable consequences, which would be deeply destabilizing for the whole region." (Reuters)

FRANCE DOESN'T SAY WHETHER AN IRANIAN NUCLEAR STRIKE AGAINST ISRAEL WOULD "DESTABILIZE THE REGION" OR WHETHER FRANCE VIEWS AN IRANIAN NUCLEAR STRIKE ON ISRAEL AS BETTER/WORSE OR MORE OR LESS "DESTABLIZING" THAN A PREEMPTIVE NON-NUCLEAR STRIKE AGAINST IRAN. OF COURSE, FOR FRANCE, A MILITARY INTERVENTION IS NEVER "THE SOLUTION." IT IS ONLY THE PRELUDE TO DEFEAT AND SHAME.
