HAMAS THREATENS ISRAEL SUICIDE BOMBINGS

Hamas threatens suicide bombings (JTA)
Hamas threatened to resume suicide bombings. Thursday's threat came as the Israeli Air Force continued pounding Hamas and other terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip in response to a surge of rocket attacks on Israeli towns. Dozens of Palestinians were wounded by the air strikes, even as others were hurt or killed in persistent internal clashes between Hamas and its rival faction Fatah.

A spokesman for Hamas' armed wing said the terrorist group that rules the Palestinian Authority was weighing a new suicide-bombing campaign in Israel. Hamas abandoned the tactic months ago, roughly in parallel to its quest for political primacy in the Palestinian Authority. But Israel has credited its own security measures -- such as the West Bank fence -- for Hamas' relative restraint, and the group has continued to encourage attacks by other Palestinian terrorist groups.
