WRIST SLAP IN BRITAIN FOR RAVING ANTI-SEMITE

Café racist gets light sentence (Jewish Chronicle)
A man who went on a racist rant in a coffee shop, saying all Jews should be killed, has been given a suspended prison sentence, sparking criticism from the Community Security Trust.

Waeil Hammed, 38, made the remarks as he read aloud from a news report on the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, in a Watford café last August.

Last Friday, he was sentenced to a 51-week prison sentence, suspended for two years, and was made the subject of a two-year supervision order.

He was convicted of using racially abusive words, racially aggravated assault by beating, and common assault.

St Albans Crown Court heard that Hammed was confronted in the café by a young Jewish man, Justin Nathan. A prolonged altercation degenerated into pushing and swearing by Hammed, who told Mr Nathan: “I am going to kill you, you f***ing Jew. If I see you again I am going to kill you.”

Mark Gardner, the CST’s director of communications, told the JC: “This sentence is clearly unsatisfactory and will do nothing to deter racists. The Crown Prosecution Service is currently analysing its performance on antisemitic incidents and we will do our utmost to ensure that this case forms part of its review.”

A spokesman for the CPS said: “We take cases of racially aggravated violence extremely seriously and, where there is evidence of aggravation, we will always prosecute robustly.”
