Arafat likely has blood cancer, heading to Paris for care
RAMALLAH, West Bank - It is highly likely that Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat is suffering from blood cancer, Israeli sources told NBC News Thursday. The sources said that according to information received by Israel, gathered from laboratory tests, Arafat’s red blood cell count at around noon was 35,000. A normal red blood count is 50,000 and at death the count is 10,000. The immediate danger to Arafat's life is possible brain hemorrhage or cardiac arrest, the sources said.
