TROUBLE IN TURKEY
Two Israeli tourists attacked in Istanbul
Two Israeli tourists were stabbed in Istanbul's historic district but suffered only minor injuries, an Israeli official said Friday. Police were investigating the attack Thursday in Istanbul's Sultanahmet district, the Israeli consular official said on condition of anonymity. There was no immediate word on any motive behind the attack.
The tourists, whose identities were not given, sustained slight wounds in the attack, the official added. They were treated in a local hospital, but later released. Hundreds of thousands of Israeli tourists travel every year to Turkey, a predominantly Muslim country that is one of the Jewish state's few friends in the region.
