SWISS BANK TO PAY JEWISH FAMILIES $21.8 MILLION FOR WWII THEFT

For betrayal, $21.8 million
Days before Hitler annexed Austria in 1938, two prominent Jewish families raced to a Swiss bank and set up a trust account to protect their ownership of one of Austria's largest sugar refineries. Within months, however, the bank violated the terms of the account and the business was aryanized. Now a federal judge in Brooklyn has approved a $21.8 million award to surviving members of the families. (New York Times)
