Israel resumes Gaza strikes (JTA)
Israeli air strikes killed a Hamas terrorist in the northern Gaza Strip.

Israel resumed its strikes Friday morning, a day after Israeli strikes killed at least 24 Palestinian combatants and civilians and an Israeli soldier was killed by a sniper. The Associated Press reported that one Hamas official was killed and three were wounded in Friday morning’s strikes.

Also Friday, Israeli troops killed Tamr Kandil, a senior member of the Al-Aksa Brigades, in a gunfight in Nablus. Kandil was believed to be behind attempts to send suicide bombers into Israel.

Friday was the tenth day of Israeli strikes aimed at bringing about the release of an abducted soldier and ending rocket attacks on southern Israel. Lt. Gen. Dan Halutz, the Israeli military chief, toured the area Friday.
