IRAN THREATENS TO SHOOT ROCKETS AT TEL AVIV

Top Iranian Cleric Threatens Israel with Missiles (AIPAC)
A cleric affiliated with Iran's government said Tehran may soon hit Tel Aviv with long-range missiles, Reuters reported. Praising the terrorist network Hizballah for "turning Israel into a country of ghosts" with short- and medium-range rockets supplied by Iran, Ahmad Khatami said Israel "must fear the day 1,250-mile missiles land in the heart of Tel Aviv." Khatami—a member of the council that can select or dismiss Iran's top leader—was referring to Iran's Shihab-3 missiles, which are also capable of striking U.S. troops in the Middle East and parts of Europe. The Islamic Republic's military capabilities have intensified international concern about Tehran's ongoing pursuit of nuclear weapons. The U.N. Security Council has passed a resolution ordering Iran to give up its efforts to enrich uranium—a key step in assembling atomic arms—by Aug. 31 or face the prospect of internationally backed sanctions.
