IRANIAN HOLOCAUST DENIAL DOCUMENTARY SERIES

Iranian Holocaust-Denial Documentary Series On Iranian TV: "Merchants of the Myth" (MEMRI)

Today, on Capitol Hill, MEMRI hosted an event on Holocaust denial in the Arab and Iranian media. The event was sponsored by Reps. Steven Rothman (D-NJ) and Eric Cantor (R-VA). Program participants included U.S. State Department Special Envoy on Antisemitism Dr. Gregg Rickman, U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum Division of Exhibitions historian Dr. Danny Greene, and MEMRI President Yigal Carmon.

The event was based on material from MEMRI's extensive Antisemitism Documentation Project archives, which consist of thousands of pages of translations of articles from the Arab and Iranian press and hundreds of hours of footages from the MEMRI TV Project. MEMRI's Antisemitism Documentation Project maintains the largest archives of translated Arabic and Farsi material on antisemitism from the past decade.

Translated segments from a 13-part Iranian documentary series titled Merchants of the Myth, which ran from October 2006 through January 2007, were shown for the first time in the West. The series featured notorious Holocaust deniers, including French writer Georges Thiel, also known as Gilbert Dubreuil, who has been prosecuted in France for Holocaust denial, and French revisionist historian Robert Faurisson.
